On Wednesday, July 24, 2025, SD Islam Al Azhar 11 Surabaya partnered with Mayapada Hospital to hold the Roadshow MediKids – Be a Little Doctor program. The event was a fun and educational experience for students from grades 4, 5, and 6, giving them a unique look into the world of medicine. This collaboration between the school and the hospital highlights a shared commitment to fostering early health awareness and inspiring future generations.

The program’s goal was to introduce students to healthcare in an engaging way. Dr. Vanessa Lini Gunawan, Sp.A, a Pediatric Specialist from Mayapada Hospital, led the session. She taught the young participants about the medical profession, emphasizing that a doctor’s job is not just to examine a patient but also to diagnose and provide the right treatment.

Through various interactive activities, the students were given the chance to role-play as doctors. They learned basic medical knowledge, such as how to wash their hands correctly, and were taught about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Students also had the opportunity to learn how to measure blood pressure and listen to a heartbeat using a stethoscope. In addition, they were taught how to provide first aid for minor cuts and nosebleeds. The hope is that they will know what to do if they or someone around them ever needs help.

This collaboration between the school and the hospital highlights a shared commitment to fostering early health awareness and inspiring future generations. By creating a hands-on learning environment, the program helped to demystify hospitals and medical procedures, making them less intimidating for children. The students left the event with a better understanding of health and a newfound appreciation for the dedication of healthcare professionals.

This successful initiative shows the positive impact that partnerships between educational institutions and community organizations can have. The Roadshow MediKids – Be a Little Doctor program was not only an enjoyable day for the students but also an important step in encouraging them to be more conscious of their health and well-being.
